ASUS Xonar D2X w/ Sennheiser PC 350

Had the ASUS Xonar D2X sound card for almost 2 years now and had the Sennheiser PC 350 headset for about 1.5 years. Sound quality has always been great but recently I've noticed my mic quality isn't as good as I think it should be!

With the microphone set to maximum volume in both windows and the Xonar D2X Audio Center it is way too quiet. I have the option to turn on mic boost which fixes that but it provides horrible background noise.

I've noticed most people seem to praise the microphone of the Sennheiser PC 350 as being extremely good quality, and this video shows it too - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alrIQX_P7Ho

Tried posting on Tom's Hardware but got no responses. Any help would be appreciated!

hmmm, I found a similar thing when I switched from USB mic to analogue mic.

you could try connecting your mic to your mobo?

Yeah I tried with Siberia v2 headset but it's hard to compare since that microphone isn't supposed to be as good quality anyway.

Tried that and as you would expect, it was worse.
