In testing stage

We love you Ukraine
Are you looking for feedback? It's a bit late in the day if it's in testing stage.

What's it for?

What monitor are you pairing it with, what resolution and refresh rate or make and model if you're not sure?

Hi,
It's been in test since 0900 this morning actually, it will be used for primarily gaming but will be used for heavy work like cad later and other demanding stuff.

The monitor is the Dell 32 inch 60hz 8k monitor. Feedback would be nice thanks.

Seems a bit of an odd build.

definitely would not go liquid nor Intel irrespective of type of work, going Intel at moment is Darwin at work.

loosing future proofing with new Intel out early next year and different size nm.

liquid systems are a pain to manage and require far more work than closed loop.

storage, no OS drive, no SSD for gaming, putting OS and games on M.2 is not that great an idea.

smaller M.2 just for OS and then games on a separate M.2 or SSD.

memory wise, not sure any apps use that much memory, and that’s coming from a company that specialised in rendering and CAD etc.

The Dell, bit of an odd choice with both Samsung and LG releasing new 8k’s next year, LG delayed their panel due to issues.

if remember right the Dell uses early release AUO panel, good panel but early tech.

not sure if it’s Beast or waste tbh, however your money your choice.

Nice feedback but I think it's too late testing stage now. I didn't know about the storage part, I had the 8k monitor for a while now actually.

Amazon have decent sale on NVME at moment, personally would get one and do a fresh install.

work out better in long run.

Still... If you've just received it you've still got time to return for a full refund I think? Would be a kick in the teeth after the long wait. But you could do so much better. Another 40 day wait would be worthwhile to get a much better pc in the long run.

Why would I want to return this? Just saying, it is a very good system. Two RTX 3090s and i9 10 core, a powerfull system indeed. 8k 60fps surely.

This build looks like an exercise in just picking the most expensive options in the configurator. So much wasted money.

Where's the second 3090 come from?! Jesus that makes it even worse. Because it's a massive waste of money in most areas and a terrible choice for the cpu.

It must have cost, what, £5-6k maybe?

I could have spent half that. Put a spec together. Get it hooked up to the same monitor next to yours, do a blind test playing games where you don't know which pc you're on, doing cad work etc and you wouldn't be able to know whether it was your overkill build or my half price one.

As suggested it's very far from an optimum system. No matter which avenue you look to go down use wise, you've missed the mark by quite a distance.

Even more so when spending this amount on a build you should get some feedback and insight into your choices. More money does not mean a better system. Each and every component has it's uses, pros AND cons. Everything needs to be connected in harmony.

To purchase a X299 chipset build with slower RAM than optimum and doubling down on rendering GPUs for a gaming rig is just not good.

Even Millionaires tend to ask for advice before choosing their Ferrari as money doesn't make anyone an expert in anything....... in my experience it makes them quite silly in most purchases as assumptions on quality are made with the price tag.

I specced it up the other day and I believe it was nearer the £7.5k mark

The CPU wasn't the most expensive option! In fact, that was the lowest possible to choose
Was that with or without the second 3090 that appeared in the build half way through the thread?!

So about £9k then to game at 60Hz 8k and do some cad-work. I'm retracting my previous statement of making a machine for half the price that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I'm changing it to being able to do it for 1/3 of the price.

But this more and more strikes me as a troll thread.
