Trying to put together a ryzen system on here. I can choose the same 3000mhz ram as 4 sticks of 8gb or 2 sticks of 16gb. What's the difference? One is slightly more expensive.
Best 32GB option? 2 or 4 sticks?

If you don't need the next gen chip you also don't need a 2700x tbh
The next Gen isn't just about better CPU performance, it's about a more futureproof platform supporting more features. You said in another post that your uses included lightroom and VMs, in which case the faster storage coming with the new motherboards might be an asset.
If it's about saving money then a 2600x would make more sense. Also why 32gb RAM? You said only 1 or 2 VMs.
