Hi,
I have spent so much time going back and forth, working out what works and what's good for Linux.
I use Arch, so it will be spin my own. I am mainly upgrading for better performance on Steam games and also my existing main laptop is getting to 5 years old. My budget is £1000, I can push over to another £50, but that's about it. I am not bothered about need an i7, but want an high end i5. I cannot see an advantage, as I am not doing any video encoding or 3D graphics work. I need minimum Nvidia 765, but would prefer 770. I want to avoid AMD GPU as their drivers are not quite up to scratch. I need minimum 8GB ram, but would love a little more if possible. I am thinking the hybrid HD, as SSD's are still over priced for my budget. Would prefer 17", mainly for gaming and hopefully better cooling
So... with that. Which laptop and configuration would be good, that works well with Linux? What are other peoples experiences in terms of PC Specialist laptops under Linux. Are there any configuration choices I need to avoid or have not worked well. I have always chosen high end Dell laptops in the past, but their last batch is not configurable and I want a change. But their hardware has always seemed to work, or I was just lucky
Many thanks
