Bios / Control Center Update on 17,3" VYPER

Hi,
I was wondering if PCSpecialist had any plans to update Bios and Control Center for the Vyper 17.
Other manufacturers with the same chassis have been releasing tweaks and fixes and I was hoping PCSpecialist would follow suit.
Cheers!

You'll need to phone PCS and ask. You need to inform them before you update your BIOS in any case.

I mean, it's a pretty generic question - not sure if it's worth going through phone support for it. Also, why would I need to inform them about updating the bios? (Granted I would need a Bios in the first place).

It's a warranty issue. In the warranty section in the the Terms & Conditions it says...

7.9
We reserve the right to suspend the warranty or refuse service if your Case, Motherboard, CPU or BIOS have been replaced without authorisation.
Any tampering, repair or modification by unauthorised personnel voids the warranty.

You can download the latest version of Control Centre from here ***link removed as not verified***
It improves the fan usage and the power mods are better balanced.

I did call PCS to ask for updates and currently i was provided with the above.
The BIOS version on mine is from May so i guess is the latest one.

If you get more info on updates, would be nice to post it here.

Thanks George!
Could you be so kind to check if the Power Limits are changed among different settings in this version? I have 100/120/120 for the 3 different modes.

Edit: Just checked and my bios is N.1.03 from 04/14/2020.

PCS don’t monitor the forums and none of us work for them just so you know. You would need to contact them directly.
Ahh that's disappointing. I posted here to see if anybody from PCS was around. Some representative is around in the Italian forum but not a lot of action happening there. Figured here would be faster. Thanks!

Yeah i have the same BIOS version.
The power settings are 100/120/120 for mine as well but what i observed is the fan is acting different on the new version.

I see the link got removed, please let me know if you got it, otherwise i can email it to you... is weird because is actually the link they gave me to download so i just copy/paste from my PCS account inbox.

Please do NOT share the link. Any BIOS update needs to be done through PCS otherwise you void the warranty.

Don't worry I snagged it [unacceptable text deleted]. I'll nag support for any potential BIOS Updates.

Also this might help as well.

"We discovered a bug on the 27th of May with the driver we installed on the deployment of your system that made Nvidea believe the drivers were no longer compatible. Nvidia released a new driver on the same day to resolve this issue that will now resolve this issue. I installed this driver for you and your system was functioning correctly."

So if you have this driver installed "08_NVVGA_W10.zip" from your PCS account and you have a Vyper 17 with RTX 2070 then ... you need to uninstall that driver and the geforce exprience and download the new one 451.48.

Thanks George, where is 451.48 available from? I have the 2070 and I'm currently running version 442.94 while the website has me download 431.62.

I was in the same situation - you wont be able to update from 442.94... is like it wont find the new drivers and it will always say you are on the latest version.

431.62 is the buggy one and it was removed from Nvidia website
442.94 i cannot find it on the Nvidia repository ... so it must be a windows driver

Go to https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/drivers/ and do a manual driver search for
Product Type "GeForce"
Product Series "Ge Force RTX 20 Series (Notebooks)"
Product "GeForce RTX 2070"
Download Type "Game Ready Driver"

Download and install "GeForce Game Ready Driver - WHQL --> Driver Version: 451.48 - Release Date: 2020 June 24"

Ah yeah I saw that from NVidia's website a more recent version was available but it is often not wise to get the official ones but rather go with whatever the OEM supplies since there's often tweaks applied to them. Not sure if this is the case here too.

AFAIK PCS do not 'tweak' any drivers. The 'official' manufacturer drivers are the ones to use. For most drivers (graphics cards being an exception) the drivers found by Windows Update are the ones to use.

This is what PCS did for me ... i had an issue with the thermal paste and i needed to send it back and upon making some checks they found out the thing about the nvidia driver and installed the latest one.. In our case the OEM is TongFang - i could not find any drivers provided by them.. and when i called PCS they said the only drivers are the ones from my download account...

For example my girlfriend has a Clevo laptop and she can go to clevo website to download the drivers for her model ...

I am playing COD and when using the driver 431.62 i had game crashing, using 442.94 i was always prompted by the game to go to nvidia and download the latest driver... Using 451.48 seems fine and i dont receive any prompts to install drivers when starting/playing COD.
