Black friday

SpyderTracks

We love you Ukraine
Hi all,

Does anyone when know when, if any, the black Friday deals may start? I'm not sure if there have been any in previous years. Thanks in advance
PCS don't really do deals over the year other than their review PC's which are always heavily discounted.

They sometimes do £20 quid off or something like that for Black Friday which you can find in magazines and on some websites.

I don't know when that comes into effect though, best to contact PCS to ask.

PC Specialist Black Friday deals begin on November 18th 2019.

Refer to this link:

You can also type "PC Specialist Black Friday 2019" into Google and that page usually shows in the top three results :)

PC Specialist have previously done some deals for Black Friday. But it's tended to be an extension of the deals they have all year, i.e. half a dozen extra specs added to the Review page. Which happens now and then anyway.

And the ~£20 off token.

Ofc, we've no idea what they'll do this year, they might have a new strategy. But don't expect it to be like some stores where almost everything is 25% off (after the prices got nudged up ~20% in the previous months)

TBF, you're already saving quite a bit getting the PC from their site as well as being able to customize it! That's in comparison to Curry's, where their pre-built ones are still better than anyone else's for the prices

Deals are up:

Could be more, but this is what's on so far:

15.6" Recoil, 144hz, GTX 1060, 16gb RAM, 512gb SSD - £999
15.6" Recoil, same but RTX 2060 - £1129

£1499 PC, i7 9700k, RTX 2070 Super
£1499 PC, R7 3700x, RTX 2070 Super

Similar specs - AMD sporting an X570 mobo, an 970 Evo, while the Intel has a cheaper Z370 board and the slower H10 SSD.

So double the SSD, a better mobo with PCIe 4.0, a larger PSU, and a better CPU cooler than this £1470 deal:
https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/configure-review/340/
Which was already a decent offering.

Anyone shopping for the laptops, go for the RTX 2060 one as it's ~40% more powerful in gaming for an 11% price increase. And since you can't upgrade laptop graphics cards, the sooner your GPU struggles in games, the sooner you need to buy a new laptop. Better bang for buck, and will last you longer.

So would you recommend the amd build (tower) ? And is the case good?

The case is decent, better than many of the alternative budget RGB cases as it actually has holes for the air to come in at the front :)

Either build is fine and you're not going to see any real performance difference between them. These are powerful builds, and would want a decent monitor (1440p 144hz with adaptive sync most likely) to make sure you actually harness the performance.

The AMD build is probably more futureproof.

Last time i swear :) - Could you send a link to a monitor your would recommend? And considering the black friday deal comes with a PCI-E Wireless N Card that i can't change does that mean there won't be a lan port or will have it have a lan port with the added option of the wifi?

Depends on the budget, but to really do the system justice I'd suggest something 1440p 144hz with adaptive sync. I listed some suggestions here:

The 32" Asus TUF and the 27" Gigabyte AORUS are both discounted at the moment - the gigabyte quite substantially, perhaps due to the release of the newer FI27Q

For those of you still looking out for some deals, PC Specialist have now added their Black Friday promo code (on the PCS website) for £25 off your order, providing it is not a next-day pre-built PC, review system or current Black Friday offer. It's valid from today through to Monday 2nd December :)

I'm trying to enter BLK19 but it's saying the promotion period has expired? It's meant to last until the 2nd :(

I'm seeing that error too.

I can only suggest calling PC Specialist tomorrow and asking - other than suggesting you try a different browser, though I doubt that'll help - it's not something the community can sort out :(

I expect the code is intended to be valid through to the end of 2nd December, that being Cyber Monday, so with any luck you should be able to use it tomorrow. And if the website is being janky perhaps they can sort it by phone with you.

Thanks, i'm going to send them an email explaining that i am experiencing this error within the offer code period anyway and take a screenshot to prove i am within the offer period and hope they message me back. Unfortunately i work 8am to 4.30pm usually with unexpected overtime so i might be a little bit stuck if i need to call, but i will be quite miffed if the discount is not honoured. Let's see what they say :)

At the end of the day a sale is a sale and as PCS is a good company i'm sure they would honour the code
