Black Screen issue with Fusion Gamer Pro Gaming PC.

I have just bought this PCSpeccialist PC through ebuyer. The specs are:

AMD FX-6350 Six Core CPU 4.2GHz, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, DVDRW, AMD Radeon R9 270X, Windows 8.1 64bit

When running as is out of the box, I'm getting colour distorsion down the screen in collums. I assume this is because the basic windows driver isn't using the GPU correctly? However I cannot get the proper drivers to install.

It gets half way through the install of the drivers and goes to a black screen. It then stops responding, and sometimes when rebooting it gets to the first windows loading screen (the blue windows icon) and goes to a black screen again. When this occurs I have to re-install Windows to be able to get back into desktop.

Has anyone else come across this error? I've seen on other sites people have suggested reflashing the bios etc. I've tried using several different versions of the driver. The one included one the DVD that came with the PC. I've also tried versions 13.11, 14.4 and 14.7.

Sounds like a hardware problem to me. You might want to contact PCS directly by phone.

The correct GPU drivers should have been installed out of the box, so I would point towards a faulty GPU. However without further testing it's tough to say for sure.

if you are comfortable inside a PC you can re seat the RAM and GPU as a basic attempt to fix the issue.

I have tried reseating the GPU and it didn't improve it.

I don't have an internet connection for the PC yet, BT is being switched on sometime today. So I want to try getting all the Widows updates before I consider phoning PCS.

Worth doing the RAM while you're at it, just a belt and braces kind of thing.

if re installing windows isn't fixing this issue (are you doing full clean installations, or just fixes?) then it's hardware related.

Its a full install everytime it fails to load and just goes to a black screen on start-up.

I suspect your right about it being the card thats goosed. I have an Nvidea card sitting in my old PC, I'll stick it in and see if it works.

Thinking back, when I first got the PC - it went to a black screen straight away. I had to reinstall to get it working in the first place.

Putting in my old Nvidia GTX550ti has solved the issues with the funny colours on screen. Also I get no black screen hang-ups.

Will phone PCS tomorrow to discuss options.

Explain to them the process you have gone though to identify the fault. Explain that adding the new card fixes it.

The option will then be, PCS send you a new card and you exchange it with the courier. You fit it, job done.

Thats good. I was hoping that would be an option. It'd be a shame to send back the whole system for one faulty part.

Thanks for your help. I'll update this thread when I can, in case anyone else has the same issue.

New GPU installed with no problems. The drivers installed straight away.

Can't fault PCS service in getting this sorted.

Good good, glad you got it sorted. PCS are normally pretty good on things like that so yeah.

Enjoy.
