Yes, you need to start from scratch, you can't use the test windows as it's not configured.Its not a free version of windows installed, its a bare minimum 'build' installation to test the machine with. Just activating it may not have ensured that all drivers etc are installed properly.
It is always best to do a completely CLEAN install.
Ah ok. So how can I do this clean install (sorry for the no doubt, noob question). I am sure I could Google this but would rather have the best steps for these builds.
A clean install will fully wipe the OS drive, there's no way around that.Also, I have downloaded a lot of software - is there a way of doing a clean install without removing these?
No, you need to create a bookable USB to clean install, you can't do it from within Windows.I went onto windows and it says to download this tool. It wipes everything and reinstalls windows. I thought I have to download it onto a usb stick but it doesn’t seem to be the case.
