brand new Apollo laptop - headphone jack not working?

I received my brand new Apollo 13.3 inch laptop yesterday. I have just tried to use my headphones but they do not work on the laptop. They work on my phone and ipod but not laptop - i have also tried different headphones - they also work on ipod and phone so it is not a problem with the headphones.

when i put the headphones in there is a noise (a crackle or pop that happens when ever you plug your headphones in) so I believe the connection to the jack is fine.

the speakers work fine as well. as soon as i put the headphones in there is no sound.

i am using the - Intel 2 Channel High Definition Audio + MIC/Headphone Jack

I have tried sony MDR-ZX300 Outdoor headband headphones and standard ipod earphones

please help!

All I can think of from this could be that it is a driver issue. You could try finding drivers, reinstalling current ones, or using a program such as driver reviver. Good luck and I hope you fix your problem.
