Build timeframes

Hi,

I am in day 4 of my wait - I am checking daily as I cannot wait for my pre-build PC :)

I know at the start of this year production time was crazy. With thousands of orders and something like 5000 orders on the books. I also know the timeframe was from 21-75 working days!!!

All my items had no messages of low/delayed stock. The estimated build time was 16-19 days. My status has just changed to Pre-Production (4 working days).

I am just wondering how long people have had to wait for recent builds?

Thanks

It depends entirely on what is in the build, if you post your spec we can give you rough idea

That sounds about right, i'm day 5 and just gone pre production, also on a 16-19 day timeframe, average for a desktop is about 47 days, but of course that includes folk who have been waiting 100 days for a 3080 or similar

I received a machine last week that took 24 days, although it included a Quadro GPU and not one of the usual commercial GPU's

yeah, mine doesn't include a GPU, if i get in the the 16-19 days I'll be happy, if not i wont be pestering them, as i know it will get done when it's my turn, its not as though i haven't got anything to use in the mean time :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for the replies.

I am going to use the desktop for work and gaming. I am currently using a Macbook which I am returning but I cannot return it until I receive the desktop as I use it for work so that is why I am a bit anxious to get it returned ASAP but obviously I need to wait on the desktop so I can work :)

Thanks

It's a solid build mate but if you don't mind a couple of notes?

The PSU you selected is a pretty low grade entry level office computer grade PSU. We would recommend a minimum of TXm model but the RMx models are fantastic.

Ideally we would go for at least 750W so I would recommend changing the PSU if nothing else

The storage set up could be rejigged as well, I see you haven't included an M.2 SSD which is the new standard of storage. Much faster than both SATA SSD & HDD's.

Thirdly we would recommend a case change.

Other than that though it's a very very solid build. Quite similar to my own actually

Unreal feedback thank you - I am all ears. I have seen the PSU options you have mentioned but I cannot tell which SSD drives are M.2? In terms of the case what would you recommend and what is not ideal about the one I have selected?

You'll see the M.2 storage options under the first storage options. There is probably a green line to click to open it up

As for the case it's just a very budget case which generally come with the usual budget case problems like noisy fans, cheap feel and restrictive cable management options. I generally like to stick to cases that I know for sure are good and cases that are designed to be budget cases rarely fit that criteria. I don't personally have hands on with the spectrum but I have experience with many other budget cases and I'm almost never impressed

This would be ideal but we can make savings here if required

Mine has come in at £1,485 so a bit less than yours. What am I missing?

Also regarding the Storge would I be doing both of them M.2? 1st M.2 SSD Drive 512 GB and 2nd M.2 SSD Drive 1 TB. Would I be ok using an HDD for my second? as I would just be storing games here

Perfect mate can defs make savings there. It might not seem like much but the proven case will help keep the parts cooler which will extend their lifespan. Same goes for the better grade of PSU, this will run cooler and also gives you headroom to make upgrades down the line

M.2 SSD's are lightening quick compared to the alternatives these days, you had a good build to start but this just puts it over the edge into something that can last a long time

The 1TB drive will be for your games and the 500GB is for your OS and programs

I hear you - I would likely upgrade parts as frequent as yearly. Probably starting with increasing the RAM and potentially the GPU.

How do I go about amending my order now that it is placed? I paid a deposit and have a finance agreement for the reminder, does this affect making amendments?

I have a 3060Ti and I don't intend to upgrade for at least 2 years mate but if you're an every year guy go nuts haha

I believe it does, if you give PCS a ring they can help walk you through it though. It's not as simple as making amendments when you have a finance agreement but it's not impossible

Thanks for all the tips and advice mate - Would you agree that the most important amendments are the PSU and Case, and changing the storage to M.2?

I'd say changing PSU is strongly recommended

The OS at least being on an M.2 is also recommended

The case is the least of the changes here but I personally would want a better case.

Everything else with the build is pretty spot on, if say you had to pick one of these? I would go with the PSU, you can always add your own storage later and the case isn't a terrible choice I just don't have enough experience with it to personally recommend

Too late - I have called and changed everything :) well, the PSU storage set up and case

Thanks for your help :) they should pay you commission (unless they already do) :p
