Bulldozer Quadcore or Phenom Quadcore?

Building a new PC for mid-range gaming and I'm unsure whether to go with a Bulldozer processor or stick with a Phenom processor. A few friends have recommended that I should stick with the Phenom but I don't know how well informed they are. Any advice would be appreciated!

Bulldozer would be the route to go, given it is more efficient architecture than Phenom, and supports some additional technologies. Of course, you wouldn't really gimp yourself if you decided to go with a Phenom (II) processor.
