Buying advice - 15.4" Gaming & Working Laptop - £1.6k budget

haha sorry I feel like I've started an argument here!

Thank you guys, really appreciate this.

I think that barlew is making a good point with regard to the screen only being 1080p with such a powerful graphics card. If i had a 2K/4K external display it would make sense, but in my case I'm going to be using the laptop screen primarily.

Therefore it's looking like the Recoil may be the best option for my use case. Those videos of the Ionico screen going dark looked pretty terrifying and I'd be super disappointed if that were to happen to me, so not really worth the risk. It may have been a bad batch of faulty screens (as they all look similarly aged) but I'd rather not take the chance with a £2k investment....

So this is what I'm looking at:

Haha its not an argument it is a healthy debate.

That is a strong build but I would suggest a couple of slight differences:

I have changed your 1st M.2 drive to an EVO 980. Its a faster drive and as that's where you will have your OS installed it will provide the benefit.

I have upped your secondary drive to 1TB but if you really do only need 500GB then that can easily be ignored.

Either way its a strong laptop and it will do you for a long time.

The only question I've got with the SSD is that when I proceed I get this message:

"The Processor you have selected does not support PCIe 4.0. Due to this the speed of your SSD will be limited to PCIe 3.0."

is there then any real benefit to the 980 Pro?

Good point well presented. I retract my previous suggestion!

It finally arrived and pretty happy with it so far! I will post a review after a few months of use.

Where on this forum can I ask technical advice questions about the control center and how it all works?
