Cant connect to internet on my new PC.

So i bought a PC specialist gaming PC for currys at the weekend, and collected it yesterday. I have a pretty strange problem that only effects this desktop though, no other device in the house has had any issues like this.

Whenever i try to connect to the internet it takes a pretty long time to connecting, then it normally drops and i get the no connections available symbol popping up. After that it connects but say "no internet available" and shows the yellow warning marker near the internet access part the task bar, it then normally connects properly. However, when you go to use the internet with any browser you just end up web pages not loading and the browser saying no internet is available even though its connected. On the off chance you get a web page to load, it is painfully slow. On top of that, it usually drops connection again, showing the yellow warning marker near the internet access part of the task bar again. So even if it ends up working for a bit, it always stops again. Its also dead slow doing things like updates and downloads when i am lucky enough to get a connection.

I know its not an issue with my internet or router since every other internet enabled device in the house connects with no issues, and runs flawlessly while connected. Its just effecting the new desktop. I have tried restarting the router just in case, which achieved nothing to fix the situation. I also tried updating windows, updating and reinstalling the network adapters through the device manager, and even resetting the PC. Nothing has solved it. I dont think i will be able to sort it out myself, and i am planning on going back to the shop today to see if the knowhow/tech support chaps can sort it out, i just wondered if anyone here has had the same issue?

Pretty frustrating to spend £1600 on a PC to have it basically not work.

Yes, they’ll come in the box, you need to attach them to the back of the Wi-Fi card otherwise it won’t get a stable signal.

I do have two already in the back of the PC( I think)

Don't let them fob you off saying it's a PCS problem. PC World/Currys are the sellers and they are solely responsible for making it work.

Yeah, i will stand my ground for sure, i bought it from them, as well as paid for the 3 year care and support plan, so they better not try it on with the excuses. If it comes to it i will just get a refund and buy directly from the PCS website.

Hi Trombley,

as PC World/Currys doesn't do techsupport and/or repairs, they will most likely send the machine to us for a so-called RMA. If you register your system on our website, you can also book that directly with us. So if they fob you off, find our order number on a sticker on the back of the machine and ring us directly. We'll guide you through it.

Thanks. Just wondering how i know what number is the order number? There are two or three different ones on there.

There should be a white-silver sticker with a barcode, underneath the barcode is a tiny number, most of the times its something like PCS 1-1234567 or it can also be PCS 1234567001
(1234567 being your order number, seven numbers, no letters, and then another number for the piece number as PC World buys in bulk )
The same sticker is on the cardboard box labelled welcome box! With that number, you can register yourself here: www.pcspecialist.co.uk/register/1234567

Or give us a ring ;)

Got the PC changed last week and set in up yesterday to find exactly the same issues. I am really unlucky sometimes :(

I'll give it a try later today and report the results back. Thanks for the advice.

Using the new PC now and everything seems to be working fine. Hopefully, it stays like that :D

The BSOD Doctor
Just for info, I'm on build 18362.356 (1903) and I have KB4515384 installed and I have an Intel LAN adapter (Intel I219-V) and there are no issues here. I had wondered whether those reporting problems had upgraded-in-place to 1903? The OP's issue would suggest not.....
