Cases less than 100mm in height!

Hi all,

I'm looking for cases to build a medium gaming PC with approximately console sized dimensions. I've seen some Silverstone ones like the SST-ML03B but most seem to be over 100mm. Scan has a very thin 'steam machine' at around 45mm which is impressive, although I expect the GPU to be non-upgradeable and possibly other components. Also my first and only gaming PC is from PC Specialist so I would prefer if they could come up with a build! I know there are a number of NUC's and other SFF PC's but I would love to see a fully fledged gaming PC with a good discrete GPU from PC Specialist!

Does anyone have any advice on what will be the limiting factors and potential components when going for a build like this? I'd expect GPU's, PSU's and motherboards to be limiting! Of course a DVD drive is pretty much out of the question!

Cheers!

I don't know if there are any <100mm cases for 'proper' PC's - certainly none on here that I've seen. I guess you could get a case that's <100mm wide maybe and have it on its side (although that may not be recommended).

I'd say the biggest limiting factor would be cooling, its going to be difficult with such a small interior to get all of the components suitably cool.

Hi steaky360,

Thanks for your help! Yeah I've had a lot of difficulty in finding a proper gaming PC build in such small dimensions. Even just finding cases with any dimension less than 100mm has been a problem.

Sounds like I'm going to have to wait until there's some more reductions in component size (or get a big bag of dry ice :p)

You won't find many custom built PCs with cases so small. Dell and companies have ones like that but they are mass produced with identical components and a lot of it probably by machines.

Best pc I can think of for you is the digital storms bolt 2 http://www.digitalstormonline.com/bolt-ii.asp its only 110mm high and is a super powerful pc, fairly cheep for what you get as well. Another option would be to just try and find the case online and see if pcs will build the pc within the case?

not sure is digital storm is a direct competitor with pc specialist so no idea about the legality of the link to there website but thought I would put it in anyway.
