Cases with 2.5" bays

Many of the cases (i.e. Corsair 220T RGB) have provsion for 2x 3.5"/2.5" drives in the base and 2x2.5" units on the back plate.
The info on PCS shows them as 2.5" bays
But when I checked the Corsair website it mentions SSD's.
I have a 2.5" HDD I want to install into a new build.
Are there any reasons why a HDD cannot fit on these plates? Weight/Orientation?

A 2.5" SSD is identical size to a 2.5" HDD, with identical mount points and SATA connectors.
This is why the format was created so that the SSD could fit in the same space as the HDD.

I hope there is no reason for the mention of SSD (and not SSD/HDD) . Otherwise I'll be looking for an external enclosure for my drive :)

Well yes, but there are 9.5mm thick 2.5" HDDs and 7mm thick 2.5" HDDs. You can even get 15mm thick 2.5" HDDs.....
