Check this Spec - Live Streaming and Game Development Laptop

So i have decided that I need a new laptop and I was wondering what do you guys think of this spec?

I generally use my laptop when I'm not using my PC and I do similar things on it - compiling Unity projects that my programmers send me, playing games and live streaming them using OBS. I find that my current Omen laptop fans like to get loud when streaming and I think this laptop would be a nice upgrade from my Omen. I currently have a 7th generation quad core i7 and this one would have a 9th generation 6-core i7. Also I got a valid license of Windows 10 Education from a College I was a student from, so I can simply install Windows 10 Education on my laptop and use it. I also picked the 1TB M.2 SSD as I will be storing a lot of content on the drive as part of my games.

If the 500grams extra is not a deal breaker, you could get the Vortex with a full 2070 and g-sync for about the same price. Otherwise get the recoil with 2060 as there isn't a lot of performance difference between the 2(if any). Also, get the silver warranty for an extra £5.

Cool. I will consider getting the Vortex model.

The above's an excellent suggestion. If the 500 grams is a deal breaker, then if getting the Recoil I'd suggest sticking to the RTX 2060. Since the 2070 Max-Q offers only very minimal performance gains over a 2060.

You could if you were happy dropping the money on it. It's also a larger and heavier chassis.

If portability isn't much of a factor, and money isn't an issue, there is an argument in favour of the desktop CPU for streaming as it's something where the extra horsepower could actually be useful.

Consider the i9 CPU for that reason - monster of a CPU that it admittedly is.

I'd like to weigh in on the i9,

the cpu streaming encoding actually works better than the nvidia one, which is a first for me.

If you do consider the i9 be prepared to spend a lot of time setting up different profiles as the "one size fits all" default one technically gives very good benchmarked scores but is more suited for short burst workloads.

Consider underclocking when gaming to avoid the 100C temps as the CPU is not tuned to deal with the extra heat and will thermal/current throttle at around 4200GHz.

I've personally found that setting the 8 package multiplier to the base 3.6GHz added more fps than having it being whipped like crazy to achieve higher clock speeds.

i9 is great ride but I can describe it only as a beast that is very greedy and instead of being sensible it will try to drag race every task and this makes it very hot even for casual internet browsing.

I've extensively tested, retested and experimented with this chip in this chassis and I'll probably upload some XTU profiles I use once I'm sure they are fit for purpose.

At the moment I'm working on a sensible gaming setup so I've been tweaking the settings while Furmark is running and generating A LOT of heat on the heatsink in order to find stable speeds at lower thread counts.

I wont lie I've enjoyed this aspect of the octane more than I have actually playing games.
