i just spent 1800 on my rig and im happy its amd as many of you know the new amd chips are out very soon and they too can now use hyperthreading. With the new chips (piledriver) coming out next year on the fm2 socket unless intel come back with something new id guess the piledriver will be the best chip on the market its always been a race between these 2 companies neither one can be called better purely because they have always played a game of leapfrog.

Ivy bridge is expected to be released early next year, and should have an 8 core processor i believe which is overkill atm for games

How has your rig turned out much more expensive than mine, most of my parts are more expensive, ie CPU (i think), PSU and the things that are beter on yours are only slightly different ie mobo and HDD size

But I dont have 3x£200 monitors for a start, and i wont be getting a second gpu until later when games start playing poorly, although this wont be for a while unless i upgrade to a 1080p monitor (currently 1366x768) when i get my second cad i may also be getting triple screen although they arent 1080p they are all 1366x768

Other than these and the i7+3gb gfx there is little difference

And im also considering getting a 3gb, apparently its essential for bigger resolutions

yer think its about £100 more than the ASUS® P8Z68-V so plus the other minor upgrades thats £200 on top of yours and as i said the asus 3d monitor, razer lycosa keyboard the oversized goliathus and the logitech g35 headset bring it to £1800 and i still have to get my 3d vision kit.

Fair enough, i hate 3d personally, i can not use for long periods of time, and the 3ds makes my eyes ache in seconds

Its more for bluerays, dont get me wrong il play some games but i went for the monitor for 120hz. If i spent that much on the gfx card and monitor i dont see why i shouldnt pay 110 quid more and get the glasses.

Yep. Dno why people get teh Lycosa though. It sucks ass compared to the BlackWidow Ultimate

The lycosa is a brilliant keyboard, some would argue its better than the BW Ultimate. To be honest the main probelms I see with the BW is a) its very loud because its a mechanical keyboard. and b) as it uses a usb connection it doesnt support certain combinations of key presses which can be frustrating for RPG players, not that it affects me cus im rubbish on those games lol.

I bought the baby one first frenchy by mistake came i was like "wtf is that its tiny" sent it back and got the alpha. The massive one not just the oversized but the xxl for 3 pound more than the baby and jack the lycosa is fine for my needs and its half the price of the blackwidow and the only difference is its not mechanical. I have 2 other keyboards that havent worn out yet so i dont really see the point in mech at this time not till they become the norm and drop in price anyway the only time ive destroyed a keyboard was dropping my coffee on one, but ive serviced the 2 i have twice in the 5 years ive had them and the keys work perfectly.
