Checkout my desktop PC build for highly modded simulation games, 3d modelling, rendering and animation in blender as well as video editing

Hello there,
as the title states I am trying to build a pc for highly modded simulation games (specifically cities skylines, civilization 6) and for creative softwares like Blender (3d modelling, rendering, animation), GIMP (photo editing). I have some basic knowledge on pc builds, I never used a desktop as my main PC before and thermals and overall simulation performance were always an issue in my previous laptop PCs. A price under £2200 is desirable however I can strectch my budged a bit as seen here. As I am not as experienced as some of you in this forum, I would like to here your opinions and suggestions. Is it an overall balanced and logical build?, I am also looking for a monitor (max £250) with good color gamut and decent refresh rate that would fit to my build.
Thanks.

A nice build there by @Steveyg , re your monitor to get something that wont bottleneck that 3070 you'd really need to add about another £50 to your monitor budget, something such as the G5 is just under £300

Thank you for your reply, I have two questions about these specs,
Wouldn't it be better to use the airflow version of the case to get better air circulation or would the difference it makes be very marginal and secondly, the processor cooling choice is great however I am not all that into rgb, is there is an option that gives the same performance but without the rgb fans? I dont't want to spend a little extra just for rgb, maybe Corsair H115i RGB PRO XT Hydro is an option ?

Thanks for that suggestion, I saw that monitor online, seems like a good deal.

Yeah you could go for something like this to remove the RGB if you aren't into, note though I don't think this case or cooler are as good as the others I've listed. You can also just turn off the lights if you don't like them.

The difference is fairly marginal. Additionally the 5000D airflow only comes with 2 fans whereas the 5000X comes with 3, so if you did opt for the 5000D I would recommend adding an extra fan or two. Always worth pointing that RGB can be turned off if desired!.

You can definitely go with the RGB PRO XT as a cooler option. Functionally it has the same pump and radiator design as the Capellix and will do a great job of keeping your CPU cool.

Hello everyone,
first of all thank you for your replies. After considering all the suggestions in this thread I decided to order the pc with the specs you see here. I hope there will be no hiccup in the build process.
For monitor I will go with gigabyte m27q or something similar. I decided flat screen because curved screens like the one in Odyssey g5 is not the most comfortable choice for 3d modelling or that kind of tasks.

Build looks fantastic!
What is your monitor budget? If you can stretch it a little further and with a flat screen in mind an IPS display such as the ASUS VG27AQ is another great contender.

Is there a noticeable difference between IPS and VA panels ? I opted for gigabyte m27q because it has KVM but gigabyte also has g27q model which is IPS but without KVM. Btw that Asus monitor is a little bit on the pricey side, I need a good monitor to take advantage of a pc with these specs but I also try to limit my spending for monitor since I already spent a good amount on the pc itself.

I actually prefer VA panels. They have good everything. I would take IPS if i was an editor, but for gaming... i feel it is a waste and they have the slowest timings and tend to cost A LOT more.

I have to agree, VA panels are so good these days that I'm just not really sensitive enough to fully appreciate the difference.

As you say though, for anything colour accuracy wise, it absolutely HAS to be IPS.

With the new IPS panels coming out though with lightning fast response rates, aside from the price increase, they're definitely a better option if budget isn't a concern.

Just additionally the one are when I would absolutely go IPS is when I eventually go to a full HDR1000 or the upcoming HDR2000 capable monitors. These are a MAJOR improvement to overall colours and brightness with local dimming so the contrast between light parts and dark parts if you’re in a dark room with an overhead lamp or something, for that kind of thing the difference is so profound that IPS is absolutely worth it, but these monitors are premium so again, it’s entirely budget orientated.
