Hi,

I'm looking for my first laptop since I'm now at uni, But I don't know much about them since I only use and build PC's. I'm looking for something that can run things like Cry-engine 3 (dev kit) and auto-desk tools fine as I'm on a game design course, But at as cheap as possible since a students budget.

There are a few questions I have:

- At the moment I am currently looking at 17.3" Sky fire II and VortexII 15.6" -

  1. CPU: What is better to get, I7-3610 at 2.30Ghz or a dual core I5-3320 2.60Ghz thats slightly cheaper? Or push it a bit further for the 2.80Ghz I5?
  2. RAM: Hyper-x Worth going the extra for? (4GB)

Which laptop would you go for:

The skyfire with my pickings, 500GB hard drive, I7 and no operating system comes to £856.00. The vortex comes to £867.00 but has the downfall of smaller screen. But I don't know the battery life of these and stuff like that.

Or is there any better deals that any body else can come up with?

1) For Autodesk you'd almost definitely want the i7.
2) Not really.

On the chassis - if you're going to be moving it around a lot get a 15.6" laptop. If not, 17.3" should be fine.
