Computer not turning on after several days.

Hi,
I purchased this PC from PCSpecialist so thought I would post my issue in the forum.

I've had this PC for about 5 months now. Basically, if I leave my computer for a few days, be it in sleep mode or simply turned off the computer sometimes doesn't turn back on again, the power button does nothing.

It happened first a couple of weeks ago but after a bit of waiting it finally decided to turn on (not sure the reason why). Now it has happened again (after leaving it for about 4 days) and I can't get it to turn on at all.

Yes the power supply is plugged in, the computer had not been touched since I left it and came back to it, the plug socket is working just fine as well.

If I remove all power and attempt to turn it on after plugging it back into power the back fan twitches a bit but that is the only movement I can see.

The motherboard green LED is on, as are the Ethernet lights at the back.

Any ideas?

PC Specs:
Motherboard: M5A97
RAM: 8GB
CPU: AMD FX-8320
GPU: R9 270X
PSU: Corsair 450W

So you can see it's getting power because the LED's are lit but when you push the button all that happens is the exhaust fan twitches a little?

I suspect a faulty component, something like the motherboard or possibly the PSU would be my initial guess. If it does turn out to be ether of those I'd recommend sending it back to PCS for repair as they are both fairly involved components to change if your not used to dealing with PC's.

Would you be willing to re seat the GPU + RAM just to rule those out? Sometimes problems such as this can be caused by poorly seated components. Very slim chance with this being a new system but it could be a problem with the CMOS battery, you could try replacing that , if you have a spare one lying around. Otherwise I wouldn't bother, as it would be incredibly rare on such a new system. The CMOS battery is the watch battery you will see sitting on the motherboard.

Thanks very much for the speedy reply mantadog. I reseated the RAM and GPU just now but still nothing unfortunately. Alas I don't have a spare CMOS battery lying around but I might look into buying one (I wonder if it's covered by my warranty).

I may just have to send it in to PC Specialist, do you know how long it takes for the whole process of checking for faults/general sending in of PCs?

Door to door can be over a week, depends on how busy the are at the time in the RMA dept.

Definitely give them a call and see what they think. As far as the new battery, I doubt its that but it wont hurt to remove it, leave it for a while and re insert after say 15 mins.
