Corsair 280x & Asus 490-I Motherboard Fans Question

Hi Guys,

I Bought the above combo with a 2080 Super and have been racking my brains on how many fans I can actually install as it is a Mini-ITX motherboard, and I have read that you can, but then I am also not sure how many you can due to motherboard connections. Does anyone know confidently that with that combo I can install a:
  1. - 2x Corsair LL120 or 140 at the front
  2. - 2x Corsair LL120 or 140 at the bottom
  3. - Corsair Hydro 115i 280 at the top
I am not too familiar with if the motherboard has enough connections to support it, or if you need something like a Corsair Commander Controller to manage all of those? When I initially ordered my custom 280x (still being built) it had limited fan options, but seems lots of people are able to have 6 fans.

Cheers

JJ

Is this a PCSpecialist system? Can you post your full specs from the order page?

You would need a lightning node pro or commander pro to controll the fans, BUT it comes with a lighting node pro included so has support for up to six fans.

It comes with the 2 front fans included.

It won't fit the H115i as it's 280mm, it has max space for 240mm radiator, so that would be the H100i as a maximum.

I would use 140mm fans where possible.

I wouldn't put any in the bottom as it will create dead spots.... too many fans is actually worse than having a well designed fan flow. 2 in the front and the 2 on the roof should create good throughflow.

I love that case BTW, all the Crystal cases are lovely, but for an ITX build, that's a really clever use of space, love it (y)

Awesome cheers mate

Yeah I am used to gaming laptops for ease so I don't have to keep going up stairs (have 2 young kids so can't do that anymore!) but my laptop died and I just can't justify 2k+ for a decent one which is still inferior to a Desktop, so negotiated with the mrs that I get a small desktop that can go on the side in the living room or dining table that doesn't take up too much space.

Looking to pimp it up a bit with a GPU case etc, just need to work on the colour theme

Once you've got them all installed, use iCue to manage the colour sequences, it's really great, does everything for you:

Just further, if you get the H100i, it can only take 120mm fans, just so you're aware.

According to the Corsair website, that case can take a 280mm radiator and specifically says the H115i can be fitted

CS280x specifications
You're absolutely right, my bad! I didn't look at the detailed specs, just at the overview which only mentions 240mm's.

The H115i Platinum would be perfect for this then, and find some 140mm fans for the other areas.
