Corsair 550w vs series™ vs-550 power supply

I was wondering what experiences people have had with this for gaming? Are they reliable? I'll be using it with a 4gb GTX 970 and i5 4590.

one of the most reliable brands, you can easily get reviews online. Also any issues you can get a replacement from PCS.

Corsair make good products, a fair amount of my machine is made with corsair products. I used to have a corsair psu and only changed it as i needed one with a higher rating

I was just reading over at Tom's hardware that the above psu is made from low quality parts (from China I believe), and it was getting a bit of a bashing...

I would be surprised if nothing inside my PC was made in China. I don't think my PC is lacking in quality.
Do the bashers at Tom's Hardware have evidence of failure or poor performance?

No evidence, just their word. If no one here has had a problem with it, sounds good to me.

They don't use Japanese capacitors (which are considered the best) but at the end of the day it doesn't make a real life difference

I'd consider stepping up to the CS series 650W, which is modular and quieter.
