Crashing in All Games (New Laptop)

No problem. For a good cpu stress test, there’s Aida 95 which is free.

Wish I could get those kind of temps with a -100mV. Admittedly I am using a 9700k in my octane with a RTX 2070 and is very stable. While gaming my lowest temps are around 75 degrees to high 80's.

My last Octane kept crashing while playing games but never did when the power brick was not connected. As soon as I plugged the power brick in within 2 minutes the system would crash. Went in for repairs and it was down to a faulty GPU.

Do you get stable game play just on battery? Maybe worth a try.

I've been increasing the voltage by +10 and it doesn't seem to be working. Here's an example of the issues I'm having on games like Overwatch:

I've also just had an issue where my game went green/yellow randomly when playing a game. I also updated my GPU drivers to the newest and nothing improved yet. I've never had any of these issues on my last purchase from PCSpecialist (980M GPU).

Have you had any luck with a fix yet? PCSpecialist asked me to reinstall the drivers for both the Intel and Nvidia GPU's which unfortunately didn't work. At this point I think it's probably a hardware issue

I found a potential solution online that suggested reducing the memory clock of the GPU by -50 with a software called MSI Afterburner. I tried it earlier today as a last resort. I then played Overwatch for 3 hours to test it and had zero crashes. I'll try other games in the mean time but it looks like it's potentially working out (for now).

If you have to underclock the GPU to avoid the system having problems, it means the system is faulty.

Yeah, it was only a temporary fix to basically confirm it was a GPU issue. I've requested an RMA from PCSpecialist so hopefully I can update the thread when it gets sent back and let the other user know if the crashing issue is still there.

the Power limit is likely the culprit for your temps, the advertised spec is 95W for the long term power limit, anything over that is an overclock(power)

So, during games like Overwatch, I'd frequently get colour changes, artificating, or rendering device lost crashes. On other games, it would just be a general crash requiring the game to be restarted. I sent my laptop back to PCSpecialist for repairs (should be delivered to them by tomorrow). I'm pretty sure that my issue was a hardware fault with the GPU since the crashes were occurring often regardless of the drivers etc. I'll let you know if the issue is solved when I get my laptop back and (assuming they provide a report for the fault) what caused it.

I thought I'd update the thread for you since I received my laptop today after sending it back to PCSpecialist for an RMA.
They quickly confirmed the fault was with the GPU, so they replaced and tested a new GPU before sending it back. I've been playing the games today that previously crashed and I've had no issues since. It might be worth contacting PCSpecialist while you're under warranty and getting it RMA'd if you're still suffering from the frequent crashes.
