I ordered a Optimus through finance on a friend because I had £550 of the cost and the finance is fairly reasonable.(yet due I'm not eligible because I don't work long enough hours)

So I have to visit him to collect it as it gets sent to buyers address (I live in Belfast he lives in Edinburgh)

We monitored the entire process and I booked travel over to see him on delivery week.

So I received my new optimus Wednesday had it clean installed on 7 ultimate. Everything ran perfect and smooth the laptop is amazing no heat issues i7 is blitz fast.

Here we go fun times death time.

So here's where it dies, I have a 1tb sata 6 hdd The build had a sata 3 500gb.

Insert 1tb into second bay and clone over. Laptop reboots into original just fine after clone.

Shut it all down, swap out 500gb put casing onto 1tb insert bobs your uncle.

Oh no mega death laptop is stone dead doesn't turn on, no LEDs light with power cable tested the charger works fine.

No power with battery. Had CMOS reset nothing, tried 30 second holding power no battery, reseating ram you name it.

Motherboard is dead from a hard drive clone 3 hours ago.

Now I'm going to have to RMA it go home and spend even more money getting it sent to Belfast from his when done.

Only real question when I RMA it can I upgrade myself to silver policy insurance just in case.(or gold can't remember if I'm on it)
Considering how the runs started I want protected

Longshot would be having sent to my address even though it wasn't ordered via my card >.> that entails a £12 but most likely a no show.

But in its 36 hour use I must say the laptop was outstanding and I'm more ****ed with the fact I actually had got to use it first and enjoy it before it went kaput the 3 weeks were torture and the RMA will kill me. No I'm wide awake will call em in morning.

This is a dead laptop record for me I'm literally still using a 5 year old Acer with mxm slot that's lasted longer

If you have chosen standard warranty I believe you cannot upgrade to silver or gold.
Try contacting technical support before requesting an RMA, if it was working fine before then something could happened between the windows installation and the new drive.

Morning also :D

I will when online but the new drive is back in the original computer, the weird thing is that the Clone was sucessful.

As in it rebooted into Windows on the original drive in Bay 1 and showed Bay 2's drive fine with the new partition layout.

It somehow died from me putting it into the first Bay. (yes i have done all the procedures like making sure i was grounded removing the battery etc (I used to do pc shop repairs , just saying to cut out the basics procedures etc)

Like literal full hardware failure, I have tried the Ram in another board works, CMOS battery is fine, charger is fine I used voltage tester on pins. Both hard drives work fine (im cloning it onto a image to restore onto the repaired laptop)

But Yea No response Kaputsky
No Leds when power inserted
No Leds at All
Battery Had 50%
No power.

No im back using this acer with its Core2Extreme and 9700m gt QQ I just want these fancy graphics and that sweet I7 Hyperthreading
(this gits had new speakers new keyboard new inverter core2extreme installed 120w power supply new DC jack New HDD 6gb of Ram actual max limit lol, New MxM Gpu and new cooling pipes, new battery)

This old gits still going stronk buts its dated.

Im actually more frustrated on the fact i got the play with the laptop before it died its like giving a kid sweets and then taking them back.

Here have a playstation for christmas but you cant play it till next month.

Whats the usual RMA time btw?

OH another notorius thing I discovered, The intel 7260 Wireless card i has issues where it will slowly drop connecting speed on 2.4ghz wifi. Intel still hasnt fixed it since the card came out.

The RMA will vary depending on how busy they are, best thing is to contact PCS directly. Hope you get it back soon fully working :)

oh lol the guy told me on the phone that because I fitted a new hard drive my warranty could be void because its new hardware.

what?

somehow my hard drive can kill a Mobo to the extent of pure failure. I swear if they attempt to void warranty on a 2day old laptop on a Hard Drive upgrade. Its literally the most non intrusive thing

Also love tech support guy trying to go through procedures I told him from start laptop is dead No Leds With and without original harddrive in. Still ran me through plugging in power and etc :L

Lets jsut hope RMA is fast with this and dont try any funny business.

But seriously whats the point of having 2 Hard Drive bays, A Msata Slot and a Disc Drive which optionally can Be a Bay and the Mother Supporting Raid if I wasnt gonna upgrade it.

Both hard drives work fine btw been tested my the 1tb is actually a 700ma while the pc specialiset is 1000ma and funnily enough the PC specialist 500gb is actually a 7mm drive with a 2.5m spacer attached

Update

They collected the laptop last week on Monday Morning via the same service that sent it to me with 1 day delivery.

Didnt state recieved until friday on website. They informed me on monday that they its now through for processing. Site still states only RMA recieved today and no new updates.

Is it always this slow? I mean 5 days to collect it via courier seems extremely slow.
