Dead Pixel Guarantee

After looking at the wording of the Dead Pixel Guarantee I just wanted to double check a couple of things that aren't entirely clear:

1. ISO-9241 has several different classes of defect allowances. Which class applies to the laptops you sell without the guarantee?

2. Does the guarantee cover all pixel defects, including pixels that are stuck on, (i.e. anything that would fail the ISO-9241 Class 0 spec) or just pixels that are stuck off?

The relevant sections you want are 7.5 and 7.12 in the terms and conditions.

Unless otherwise stated all screens are Class 2.

The warranty doesn't explicitly state what classifys as a dead pixel but I would assume anything that falls under the Class 2 accepted defects would classify as a dead pixel. The warranty explicitly states the panel would be replaced with one that is defect free so again I would assume that a pixel stuck on or off would be covered.

To be 100% sure you need to contact PCS directly though.

For anyone reading this who is unsure of whether to buy the dead pixel garuntee, ISO 9231-302 states a Class 2 panel is permitted to have up to 2 pixels stuck on, 2 pixels stick off and then 5-10 sub optimal pixels I.e. bright, double bright or dark sub pixels.

That is a hell of a lot of dead pixels which would be deemed acceptable unless you buy the extra cover.

Thanks for pointing out that terms and conditions page - that clearly answers my first question.

It does look like some more clarity on what PC Specialist consider a dead pixel would be useful though.

As their screens are classified under ISO 9231-302 I would assume their definition of a dead pixel would fall under the same standard e.g. Pixel Fault Types 1-3 defined under 3.4.31.

Your are right though that isn't explicitly stated. It would be best to send them a message.

PCS don't monitor these forums, none of us work for them, you'd need to speak to them directly for a concrete answer.
