Decent specs, terrible frame rate

Almost a year ago I bought an Enigma III, and everything seemed to be fine. Admittedly I have not used this laptop anywhere near as much as I thought I would before I bought it. Recently I have decided to play some PC games and the frame rate is really bad.

10-13 frames on Crysis 2 etc.

Really not sure why this is happening as this laptop is basically as good as new. A bit disappointed if im honest. I would be grateful for any suggestions/solutions.

SPECS:

Intel Core i7 2720QM @ 2.20GHz
8.00 GB RAM
2047MB GeForce GT 540M

Thanks for responding. The screen resoultion is 1920 x 1080

Are you playing the game at reccomended/auto specs? Running the DX11 and hi res add ons? I remember Crysis 2 being a hell of a lot better optimised than Crysis 1 and it didnt need as high memory to play due to the maps being all close quarters. The game didnt need to render that far in the distance.

Also is your game running off the GTX card or the integrated chip? Check this in the Nividia GPU panel. (Set global to high performance GPU).

Checked your power saving options? Running on batteries or plugged into the wall?
