Defiance Laptop 15” FAN NOISE/ INQUIRY

Hi all!

I am a new customer to PC Specialist and just recently ordered the Defiance Series 15.6”. However I am overthinking at this point if it was the wrong decision to make. My primary use of the laptop will be mainly in-school therefore I am worrying at the loudness of the laptop in quiet environments (using microsoft and adobe softwares).
Is there anyone who has bought this series’ of laptop and are happy with the low level noise by the fans when using basic software such as the those.

Also, will I still be able to return and get a refund if I install the apps on the laptop to test the fan speed and then wipe the SSD before sending it off. (as I am installing windows myself).

Thank ya’ll for reading! (this post is mainly to make the decision if I should cancel my order which is currently in pre-production (3rd day) and order another version (preferably the Ionico however 8gb less RAM))

:)

Firstly, did you order with windows or without? If windows isn't setup correctly then the fans will be loud.

That would explain it then, if it’s not setup yet, fans won’t be managed properly
At the moment I havent got the laptop (its in pre-production), but when it is delivered and windows is correctly installed, will there be an issue with the fan noise; or is the Defiance Series generally quiet running basic tasks?

So long as it’s configured correctly it should be fine in normal usage.

Currently with my Defiance laptop the fans spin up when I do light tasks like web browsing or writing. I have put them on quiet mode so they are not very obtrusive but is there a way to not have them kick in when doing these tasks?

Assuming it's configured correctly, and you ordered with windows installed, fans react to CPU load and GPU load, without them the laptop overheats. If they're working it's because they need to.

Have you checked taskmgr to make sure there aren't any other processes taking up resources that you're not aware of?

You can set custom fan curves, but you may well find a detrimental effect of far higher temps as a result.

Consider which browser you're using, something like Chrome is a huge resource hog and takes up huge CPU, GPU and RAM resources when quite frankly, it really has no need to do so. Others are far better.

I didn't order with windows installed but you helped me do a fresh install before so I'm sure they are working as intended. I'll try switching from Chrome and see how I fair, cheers!
