Desktop for running Parallel OpenMP Codes

Hello,

I am looking to buy a desktop to use as my main work PC - main purpose is to run my computational fluid dynamics codes.
They are written in c++ and parallelized with OpenMP.
From what I've seen so far it has good scalability up to 12 threads.
CPU (number of cores, speed) and RAM are the most important things from what I've seen.

I was looking at the pcspecialist custom pc building but I got a little lost.
I think Ryzen 9 - with 12 cores at 3.8GHz and 32GB RAM should be okay, but after that I was a little lost on what else I should have on the system.

My budget would be around 1500, but I would go a bit higher if needed, ideally I would like to keep it as small as possible though.

If you have any suggestions, I'd be happy to listen. (It doesn't have to include the Ryzen 9 CPU)

Do you know if the package can use hardware acceleration? (GPU processing)

Sorry I forgot to mention that the only requirement I have from the GPU is to be able to run 2 screens in FHD.
There is no GPU processing, or any other need for a high-end GPU.

Cool, that makes it easier. Just to confirm, which version of OpenMP are you using, just want to make sure we make the right choice between AMD and Intel

I'm usign the latest stable release (OpenMP 5.0) with gcc on Ubuntu 18.04. (planning to keep using Ubuntu on the new desktop as well)

Excellent, AMD have worked incredibly closely with Linux devs to really optimise Ryzen on Linux, they've made incredible headway in a short space of time and transformed Ryzens capabilities on Linux generally.

This comes in just under budget, the storage obviously you can configure to your needs, just added quite generous quantities. It's the fastest M2 drive available for the OS and programs which may help.

I went for the 3900x as it's quite a significant jump in clock speeds which would be invaluable from what I can tell.
