Desktop freezing

Hi,
My desktop has started to freeze soo after startup.
I had an issue earlier where the wireless card couldn’t be detected, so I’ve bought a usb wireless adapter. That sorted that out.
Now it boots up, sometimes freezes at the login screen, some times makes it to the “home screen”, don’t know what to call it. Upon boot up, it once said it was “repairing C drive” went to 100%, restarted then gave me the option to repair c drive or advanced option. Can’t remember what I did, but nothing has changed.

So is it clearly the C drive?
Canit be repaired without losing data?
Why did this happen, within first year of use?

Not necessarily, it could easily be (and probably is) an issue with Windows. Has Windows been upgraded since you bought it (so from 1809 to 1903, say)? If it has and that upgrade was done by Windows Update then I'd bet that's your problem. The only way to sort that is via a clean install of Windows from bootable media (NOT a Windows Reset).

Can it be repaired without losing data?
If your C: drive is the SSD then it can't be repaired at all. The 'repair this disk' message is chkdsk assuming it's an HDD (which can be repaired). It could be something as simple as a file system error, so run chkdsk /f on the SSD to check for file system errors. It would also be worth running a chkdsk /r on the HDD too. The /f switch tell chkdsk to only check the files ystem, the /r switch tells it to also check for bad sectors and repair them (the repair is done by allocating a spare sector to stand in for the faulty one).

Why did this happen, within first year of use?
Stuff breaks. Be glad it is in the first year because with your silver warranty it means you have full collect and return cover. :)

Before you return it though, do a clean Windows reinstall from bootable media. That will destroy all data on the C: drive (but not on the HDD - unless you're careless).
