Desktop invaded by address book icons

Hi,I wonder if anyone else has had this happen ? Recently I have opened up on at least three occasions and found that my desktop icons are buried under all my address book icons, the whole screen covered with them so you could not get to the usual shortcut icons.

There was nothing wrong when I closed down the day before and all the searching I could think of could not find this fault reported by anyone.

Eventually I went to System Restore and cured it that way but I am sure there must be a way of sorting this if I knew where to look and or what to click on !. The restore process does take up some time if you are in a hurry.

I wondered if accidentally I had made a key stroke combination either on closing or start up, but in both instances I always use the mouse for these actions,

I run windows 7 Home edition 64 bit can anyone suggest anything please Ken

Hi Androncles, yes it did, the whole screen was covered, I suppose I must have a lot of e.mail addresses !

Your query gives me hope, has this happened to you ? ken

No, but i had a look around the internet. One cause i found is the shortcut to your address book being broken and its dumping them onto your desktop. I have no idea how you check that though, i would assume that in your email software settings you would be able to change the rroot deirectory for address book storage.

Thanks but that is way above my head ! I think I should make an even bigger mess if I tried to attempt that, I think I shall just take greater care when using the desktop and hope it doesn't happen again, I'm terrified of doing something that locks the whole system up and having to ' get a man in ' to fix it. but thanks for your input. If it does happen again and I do find the answer I will post it. Ken
