Hi,

I'm hoping for some advice to replace an aging pc. I can see that general guidance on this forum is that the screen informs the pc choice so would like to include a new screen in my budget of approx £1500.

I use my computer for gaming, internet browsing and general MS Office work. Appreciate this budget won't get a high end machine but would be good to be able to run some more recent games.

Thanks in advance!

I'd suggest starting with a monitor like the Gigabyte G27Q, which is around £280. You can go cheaper at 1440p (the ViewSonic VX2718-2KPC-MHD is a ridiculous £150, though I'm not sure I'd want it) but you will lose out.

Then for a system you could go for this. It brings the total cost to £1525. You could get it down to £1500, but only with compromises I'd not want to make.

Thanks for coming back to me, really appreciate the help. Is there a monitor nearer the £200-220 mark that would do the job? Can i choose any monitor with the same resolution to work with the pc spec?

Still out of your requested price range but if its reduced to what I paid for it, its a good 1440p monitor and would recommend breaking the budget for it (well I think so):

There might be a later version of it out now, but I paid £299 two years ago in an Amazon Prime deal. Also got the option to pay over 5 months interest free.
That model is discontinued, that's why the price is high as it's low stocks, but it's not remotely worth that much.

It was a good monitor for the time, but there are far better ones at a lower price now.
