Hi, hope everyone is well!

On the verge of pulling the trigger on a new PC and like the look of the RTX4070ti - need a new system for light gaming, film watching on new Benq 4k PD3220U monitor and will also use for light photo and video editing. I've come up with the spec below which I'm reasonably happy with, only concern is, do I need extra case fans to keep the temp down? Need for silent as possible PC is also important:

Hiya

It's overall very nearly there.

I wouldn't suggest the Y40 as it has some cooling issues. But the Y60 is a good case and has loads of room for upgrades down the line.

You want faster RAM, Ryzen really needs about 6000MHz as the sweetspot, does make a big difference.

I would personally suggest at least 1000w PSU. The first thing that's going to need upgrading is the GPU, no matter what you buy now, it's always the first bottleneck, especially factoring in video work. 1000W just covers you if you want to step up a tier in the future, should power usage not come down (hopefully it will as it's far too high atm). It's not much more expensive to step up to 1000w and would be a pain if you were restricted in upgrading due to the PSU.

With regards to fans, the Y60 comes with 1 rear extraction, and two front side, plus you'll have 3 on the roof extracting from the radiator, so you should be well covered.

Other than that though, it should do you well. The 4070ti is a good fit for gaming on 4k 60Hz and gives you a good level of grunt for hardware acceleration.

Thanks a lot SpyderTracks - all great advice. I'm currently typing on a self build system circa 2008 and hopefully with this purchase should keep me going for a few good years! Was wanting to keep the budget at £2500 but will tinker about with specs with your advice in mind and see where i stand - thanks again :)

To get it nearer budget, this is what I'd suggest, main changes are Cooler and SSD.

The 990 Pro is a superb drive, but definitely comes at a premium. The Firecuda's are no slouch though and actually don't lose too much performance compared, but hugely reduced price.

Motherboard, I think you made the right choice for the 7950X, it does need solid VRMs behind it, and that really justifies an X670 imho. It's unfortunate the Gigabyte X670 has gone out of stock because that was extremely good value.

I've also reduced the cooler from the Cappelix model to the standard RGB version, same pump and radiators, just a slighly reduced RGB effect. BUT you do have the option on this model to swap out the RGB cap on the pump head to the full LCD display module as an option in the future if you wanted the shiny bling bling, just a good way of spreading the cost a bit

The Y60 comes with three fans, but they're 3 pin and non RGB, so it might be worth getting additional Corsair fans to add to the three that comes with the H150 AIO to have a consistent look? Case takes 8 120mm fans in total (3 top, 2 side, 2 bottom and 1 rear).

Edit: You might want to consider white fans/aio to match case though?
