Does this spec make sense? Gaming/work PC ~£1600

Hello good people - first time post. My PC died yesterday and so I could use some advice from folks much more knowledgeable on a replacement. Hoping to buy a system that will last 7-8 years, upgrading bits when needed.

Monitor: Asus VG27WQ TUF 27-inch (2560x1440) widescreen curved. Will set up a second monitor in future

Work needs: Stable, quiet system, very heavy Excel user (large datasets, lots of Power Query/larger Data Models connected to 30+ tables at a time, that kind of thing). Need to tab between multiple worksheets/docs/browser tabs/Youtube/Teams/Oracle applets concurrently. No video editing. Otherwise standard stuff.

Games: mostly Paradox (Stellaris, Crusaders Kings 3), Fallout 76 type (do not judge harshly :D). Hoping to play Elden Ring, even if not on max settings.

Budget: Absolute max is £1650. Sweet spot would be £1500 if possible.

This is what I have come up with, after reading the boards. I'd welcome your advice on component quality, cooling options, whether the mix of specs below 'play nicely' together.

I think you would be better with a more powerful processor, the 12600KF would be more suitable for your needs and is only £83 more so would still keep it under £1,700

Oops, just seen you said £1,650 absolute max, but if you could find a bit more to upgrade the CPU it would be worth it

Thanks, Budgie - my original budget was £1300-£1400 :D but I am going to play around with the specs a bit and see if I can bring the budget up. Also changing to a less blinging case ...

Id suggest something like this, you can change the GPU to a 3060 Ti and its £1649.
Would be nice to step up to a 690 motherboard for the storage options etc, but had to trim areas to stay iin budget and wanted to keep the cpu for the gaming aspects but you also mention heavy workloads.

Gotta be honest though, something about this build makes me uneasy, I wouldnt want a board that limits cpu choice and storage drive choice like that, not on whats a relatively new socket anyway..... perhaps an AMD build is a better option? For the budget anyway.
But then you'll also miss the releases in autumn if you buy now but your old pc has died...its a tough one.
