Dp cable not working on monitor

I ordered the m27q which is 170 hz display monitor I can only get up-to 144 hz due to it only being the hdmi cable that im using I believe not too sure if I plugged it in wrong?
The dp cable was tricky for me to put in as I have to push down something for it too go in and it was sticking out quite a bit but didn't know if its supposed to be like that or not?

170hz is overclocked. You have to overclock it in settings.

DP cable is for gaming monitors, should always be used over hdmi.

It's 144 because you haven't overclocked the monitor I'm guessing?
