Drive wont read discs

Hi, having a slight problem with my pc. I turned it on today to watch a DVD but it won't recognise the dvd nor will it see that theres a blu ray or blank cd / dvd in the drive. I've tried removing it from the device manager and rebooting to reinstall and still nothing, spent the last hour trying to find something to do but all comes to dead ends. Really worried now cause I had plans to have a few people round for chrismas to watch some blu rays and they wont play :(
Please help

nope its a LG CH10LS20 it seems to shrug of DVDs and Blurays like there not there saying theres no disc in the drive but it really tries to read CDs but again nothing comes of it just takes a long time trying.
Also this might be relevant a coule of times when i've put a usb cable in the front ports it reboots the PC could that have something to do with it? oh and in the BIOS I seem to have two drives now when I only have one.

It goes from your optical drive to sata port on mobo, same as the one your replacing, but if your not sure i wouldnt dive in there.
