Elimina niggles

Have recently purchased a 17.3 Elimina with Win 11 Home. The installation was enormous, 115GB on drive C:. A few niggles - in particular
Linux Mint would not install. The BIOS refused the USB install stick on security grounds. So I installed Win 11 Pro from MS (had to use RST drivers from Intel) This works fine, occupying just 44GB fully loaded to my requirements and backs up to 22GB with Terabyte's Image for Windows. It works fine except for :

1. I can't turn off the touchpad. F The Fn-F1 key combo or the various settings in Win 11 do nothing. The drivers are standard MS.
2. Linux Mint, installs (via USB stick) but without Wifi. It previously installed OK on a PCS Fusion IV 14 inch.

I guess both problems may have to do with drivers but they appear not to be included in "W11_NPxxRNx1 Full Driver Package.zip" from PCS nor on the CD included with the PC. Can you help.

The spec is shown below

Thanks

The BIOS refused the USB install stick on security grounds.
I take it you'd set the BIOS by disabling secure boot etc? Linux generally isn't compatible with secure boot.

1. I can't turn off the touchpad. F The Fn-F1 key combo or the various settings in Win 11 do nothing. The drivers are standard MS.
If drivers are standard MS, then you haven't configured the device yet, you need to fully configure the required drivers and master driver until it will function correctly.

2. Linux Mint, installs (via USB stick) but without Wifi. It previously installed OK on a PCS Fusion IV 14 inch.
How have you configured the wifi drivers?

I guess both problems may have to do with drivers but they appear not to be included in "W11_NPxxRNx1 Full Driver Package.zip" from PCS nor on the CD included with the PC. Can you help.
Drivers are in your online account, but you always let windows update install required drivers and only manually install any that aren't found yourself.

Linux isn't supported so there won't be any linux compatible drivers. With Linux you have to find the correct Kernel that has compatible drivers for the Hardware you're using. Mint is very restrictive on loading custom drivers, but there are way around it. But this is all standard Linux stuff.

Thanks to SpyderTracks. Your suggestions were spot on. I hadn't realised the driver CD contained an installer for the drivers. The laptop now works well in Windows 11 but still cannot install Linux Mint. I eventually installed it under Virtual Box alongside Win 7 and Win 10. Not ideal but I can live with it.
Overall, I am very happy with the machine.
Thanks again
