Elimina Pro 15 Questions

I'm considering buying a version of the Elimina Pro 15 but without OS since I have a windows license. What are the consequences of that in terms of building the laptop? If you install an OS do you run any additional tests after? In other words, if I order one without it, does it compromise the quality control?

Another question is in regard to upgradability, how easy it is to add or replace RAM memory, storage, and battery?

Finally, taking the RTX 3060, what is the TDP of the one you'd include in the Elimina Pro 15?

Thanks

This is a PCS user's forum, the staff do look by but for definite answers you would need to contact them.

They will fully Test the machine with a trial version of W10 which will still be on the machine when you get it, so need to clear all partitions then do a clean install.

RAM position varies, often two sticks are easy to get to just with the back off, while other two take a bit of work. When you order, if only going with two sticks ask them to be placed in the most awkward place, if that is possible, then adding more should be simple.

Thanks! I'm new to the forum, I'll contact them directly, but I appreciate your answers as well.

Elimina Pro is very easy to open (from below). You have only 2 SODIMM Slots (already populated), right in front after opening. If you want to upgrade you'll have to throw away the ones provided by PCS (unless you go with 1 single stick now). Storage has 2 M.2 slot, presumably one will be already populated by the order. Same easy position. Battery also can be replaced but of course by opening the chassis as before. You'll buy the spare in a few years by your PCS account spare page.
From people which already received the Elimina Pro in the italian PCS forum it's a Max-P variant with 115W + 15W Dynamic Boost.

PS: it should come with a trial of Windows

You can’t use the trial windows, you’d need to install your own copy from scratch.

You’ll have a lot of issues if you try to license the trial version as it’s not configured.

It's not even a trial version, it's just a testing version. If you order with no-OS you really must install your own OS. :)

Run Windows updates as many times as possible until there are no more updates - this should take care of the most, if not all, of the drivers required.

Then download GPU drivers direct from nvidia / AMD for whatever is fitted.

I would contact PCS though re an empty downloads page so they can rectify that for you.

When you have then clean installed your own windows and run updates, and installed the graphics driver, check your device manager and let us know whats missing drivers (yellow triangles) or sometimes in 'Other Devices' and we can see where to go from there.

And what about the control center from tongfang?

You really need to ask to PCS (either via phone or live chat). I've obtained one of those via a guy who asked to PCS for its Ionico (mine hasn't arrived yet). Your Elimina Pro is very similar BUT you should have PCS giving the exact Control Center for your model to be sure not doing anything wrong.
Don't know why they are so resilient in loading those in their website...

Theyre not normally, its usually part of the process of building the laptop, but perhaps with these new laptops part of the process has gone astray at the moment or just needs a few days to catch up.

After a few emails, they sent me a list full of direct links (something like 15 links) to download the right drivers for my device, links will work just for the next 24h. I really appreciated pcspecialist support / call center

Did they give any explanation why the heck they are going this route instead of finally populate every account page of owners of their new laptops?
Or at least for whom like you who asked for those. Why the vanishing direct link
After well 1 and a half week of those laptops already delivered to the public this thing is going out of proportion IMO..

Anyone know if is possibile to upgrade this chassis with a SATA 2.5? It totally disappeared from the Elimina Pro configurator

Most modern chassis only take M2 drives. Only DTRs take SATA 2.5’s
Umph, that wasn't clear by PCS actually
I'm hearing about people that had their order stuck cause of a SATA 2.5 in it (it was possibile to add a SATA in the order few days ago)
Not really happy to hear that, i wanted to upgrade my laptop storage with at least 2TB of Barracuda 2.5 o_O

If in doubt you will need to check with PCS directly, but as I was bored this morning, here is a summary regarding drives of the configurator / detailed specification pages of each laptop on offer at moment (from the 15.6 and 17.3 inch pages that is):

check with PCS directly
Live chat:

"Ok so, Im afraid NO there is no support for 2.5" in this case.
Due to the size of the battery, the confusion comes from that the chassis have rom for a 2.5" drive with an AMD processor, but not INTE, hope that makes sense 🙂"

Ionico has IPS at almost 100% sRGB (96% minumum from BOE, the LCD manufacturer). Elimina Pro is IPS for sure, don't know about the colour space.
