Elimina series 15.6 laptop keeps shutting down unexpectedly

We have a persistent problem with an Elimina laptop that keeps shutting down unexpectedly. it has the Logitech MH270 keyboard and mouse and the DS110 docking hub for an ethernet connection. it isn't over heating and there is no pattern to it happening. Anyone else experienced this and found a fix?

Thanks, when it shuts down, is that a blue screen, or just loses power, does it reboot automatically, or fully switch off?

Is this on battery or plugged in?

When you say it's not overheating, what are you using to monitor thermals and what temperatures are you seeing?

It may be worth doing a quick battery health check. If you open cmd prompt as administrator

Type powercfg /batteryreport

That will output usually to c:\windows\system32\battery-report.html

navigate to the file and open it in a browser. At the top it has the deisgned battery level (when it's new) and the current full charge capacity. If that's less than about 80%, you may have a dud battery.

With modern laptops, even if they're running on mains power, they still need a healthy battery connected as will always draw from the battery at the same time when under load (because they need more power than the charging brick can provide on it's own). If it's a dodgy battery, it could need replacing.

thank you - the laptop shuts down. No BSOD just a standard shutdown. There is little fan noise prior to the shutdown so don't believe there is a heat problem. Will do the suggested battery check.

Thx
Rob

The only way to tell if there's a temp issue is to monitor temps under load with something like HWMonitor

If it's over about 92 or so at 100% load on the CPU, then it's likely it may need a service, ie repasting. This needs to be done once a year to keep thermals within tollerances.
