'esports' in the Olymnpics?

Intel is apparently talking to the IOC about making 'esports' an event (or events) at a future Olympic Games. I assume this means gaming(?) and as a non-gamer I'm intrugued to know how this would work.

So asume you're in charge of 'esports' at the Olympics, how would you implement and organise it? What 'esports' would you have? To a non-gamer like me it sounds like a pretty difficult thing to organise...?

There will likely be team face offs in either a head to head draw or a league leading to a head to head tournament draw.
Multi-day events could be based on points accrued over the duration (team or singles)

Would be fairly easy to organise I would imagine. It would effectively be The Wizard 1989 or Pixels 2015 on the big stage.
