Ethernet Port not working?

Got my new laptop yesterday, spent most of the day setting it up, all looked fine.
Worked fine on Wi-Fi all day yesterday and still does now, Finally got around to connecting it up via ethernet cable and the port is dead to the world.

Tried a different port on the router (VM 380GB) - same thing
Tried a different cable - same thing.
Then tried both ethernet cables and the different ports connected up to my PC (3900x etc) - perfectly fine connection.

Any other conclusion other than a dead ethernet port seem likely?
Is there anything else that I can try?

Hiya

Could you take a screenshot of your windows update and device manager pages?
Ok, i'm presuming that you know something - as there was an update which I just made and now the ethernet is again working?

What on earth happened please?

And BTW my thread the other day is now resolved to a degree, thanks for reminding me about configuring the two screens correctly

Your windows isn't configured yet, first thing you have to do with any new laptop is install any windows updates, until then the drivers aren't configured.

You have to apply 21H1 and all the optional updates.

I had checked for updates yesterday and at the time there wasn't any more updates to do at that time.

Well 21H1 has been in the wild for over 6 months.

You have to keep pressing check for updates until it finds no more, it won't report them all at once.

It will be to switch between the fan / power profiles: usually called Office, Gaming and Turbo - although not sure on the later Tongfangs.
