Euro Truck Simulator 2

I can't believe how good this game is on my new system!

Not only are the trees no longer 2D as per my laptop, but something I wasn't expecting was the LogiTech G920 steering wheel and pedals I have are infinitely more responsive than they were on my laptop! I thought it was just a bit of lag with the steering wheel on the laptop screen but on this setup the steering wheel on my display turns instantly and is 100% more responsive!

One of the many features of this Simulator is that of the scenery and my laptop didn't do this game justice as everything is just so much smoother, punchier, more detailed, shinier and well, just better!

Any other ETS2 players here?

Yup - it sounded so dumb that I bought it for a laugh, spent an hour learning to reverse and then got out on the open road and loved it. Weirdly relaxing to play!

I find it very relaxing which is why I enjoy it so much :)

Next step....... VR :punk:

I know! I don't know enough about VR (yet) to decide if it is for me or not, I've made sure the graphics card I got said it was VR ready so I'm kind of preempting that I might go down the VR route at some point. I don't have room for all the sensors I've seen some come with though and not much room to move around so don't know if my gaming room is suitable or not.

Sounds like the Rift would be your best bet. As I understand it ETS2 is compatible with the Rift as well.

I have the Vive and, for me, VR is the only way to game now. If the option is there it's a must. FSX in VR is just breath taking. Project Cars in VR is the closest thing to driving that I have ever done (Steering wheel, pedals & Driving Seat etc). When I switch it on I get lost in it.

Great! Thanks a bunch! Just when I thought I'd spend enough money now I've learnt you can play games like Project Cars in VR (with my LogiTech steering wheel and pedals setup too I assume) which sounds great so that will now have to go on my (ever growing) wish list!!! :)

It was Project Cars that also made me take the plunge. I love driving games in general but actually feeling like you are driving is phenomenal. I have a Logitech set also, most seem to be catered for so you should be fine.

With the price of the Vive being slashed so much it's definitely the kit I would recommend. The only pre-requisite is that you can fit the sensors in the corners of your room. From there it's up to yourself if you want to go room scale or not. Having the Vive does give the option to expand in the future. There are also wireless options etc to go along with it.

The above was gaming-chair :D

@The_Scotster that looks fantastic!

Other than the obvious (games etc) have you done anything else with your VR kit? I seem to recall that a company somewhere was doing a VR experience for the Chernobyl site so you could wander around that for example.

[EDIT]

After enabling the physics surround mode on my NVIDIA graphics I have just spent the last hour (or two) playing Euro Truck Simulator on 2 42" Displays side-by-side and it was Amazing!!

Most of the games are "experiences". I've not tried any professional applications, although my work is looking to adopt the tech at the moment.

The only downfall I have with it is that it takes a little getting ready to play. I leave it all in standby but there's still some work to be done pre-play (mere minutes but still). Additionally, once I get in there........ time just absolutely flies past. I was playing Arizona Sunshine when I first got it. Thought I would have a wee after dinner game at 6.30ish. Took the headset off, it was pitch black and after 11 o clock. I got completely lost. The only reason I took the headset off was because the controllers ran out of charge :D

I'm in love with the game as well, as many people here are! The biggest con for it I found is that it can be a bit of a cash grab with all of the DLC content available. I did get to buy the base game much cheaper HERE, however, getting all the DLC is something I've delayed for a bit, at least till I finish the story in the base game and will probably take them one by one so that is would not take too much of a toll on my pocket. I am a cheap ******* if you can't tell lol.

I found the DLCs on offer from MMOGA (a lot cheaper than Steam etc) and got most of them from there last year.

With my new PCSpecialist desktop I am getting so much more out of this game as the improved graphics make this game amazing.

I just played an hour in VR in this game. It's got a real charm to it, it's so relaxing. Own radio station on, pick a job, kick back and drive.

It has similarities to how I feel when playing FSX, it's almost therapeutic :D

Your seat looks a fair way back - is that how you have it set or is it the VR that's done that as I sit a bit closer than that?

That's how the VR sets it. If you have a look at the passenger side when I'm turning my head you can see the seats are actually way back in the cab. The thing is, thanks to the POV with VR over screens it feels pretty natural, rarely do I need to actually sit up from my seat.

ETS2 sale now on. Some great offers on steam just now too. I just bought the Monkey Island bundle for £8. Can't wait to get started on that little lot, will bring back a lot of memories :D

Along with the Farming Simulator 2019, I think Euro Truck Simulator 2 is the best simulation experience out there today. Best thing about it - it is not brand new anymore, which allows for the game to be bought for under 5$ is you look hard enough! Or you can jsut visit this link, that works too lol :D that's where I got mine!

It may not be brand new but they keep updating it as I believe they are treating it like Windows 10 and will continue to add updates to it - what updates are left I've no idea as they've got most of Europe covered now. I wonder if they will have to remove the UK from it should Brexit happen? There might be a Brexit Edition then!! ;)
