Crikey! I don't know the specifics of why so much when those carts aren't afaik exactly uncommon.
My bestie and his bro (both retro console gamers/collectors) have one or both of each game (og box for at least one too) and I'm pretty sure my brother still has his N64 with Mario 64, Goldeneye aso around.

I think that what made it worth so much is that it was still sealed.

True, though the question is pristine box or with the plastic wrap on too?

Were probably discovered in the dark recesses of some warehouse or stock room in that case. I guess if we give it another 20 years my matey's not so pristine boxed versions might make a decent amount. On the other hand trends change so by then folks might not care as much.

Hold on... another copy of the same game, sealed, with a slightly lesser score sold for £10K? Something is off here.

Not in the same league, but this probably even more mental!

Have people chosen games boxes to smuggle in narcotics or something??
By that valuation, I've bought $1200-worth of Skyrim - I own it on Xbox 360 and PC. I've had many hundreds hours of fun actually playing the game. Crazy idea I know, but I kinda felt that's what games were for. Silly me!
