Hi there

Last Christmas I bought my 13 year old son the "PC SPECIALIST VORTEX GT GAMING PC - WITH NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1650 GRAPHICS CARD" desktop PC and all is going really well.

My son has asked me to buy additional RAM as his currently has 8GB, can I ask advice please on how much I should purchase and can I buy any RAM does it have to be a specific make and where is best to buy it?

Many thanks

Julie

Did you buy the PC from PCSpecialist? If so you should have an online account. If you log into that and go to the Order details / My orders, then go into your order, scroll all the way to the bottom and you should have a button to "Upgrade this order".

Then you can just order another 8Gb through that.

If you bought it elsewhere and haven't already, it's worth registering the PC with PCS, that will activate your warranty and give you access to your online account.

Hi Julie. An extra 8GB of RAM could well be beneficial, I imagine he’s a gamer so it could potentially suit him to upgrade.

But if it’s the machine I’m thinking of, he may not just want more RAM, he may want faster RAM. I think the Vortex came with 8GB 2400MHz RAM which is bordering on pitiful for today’s uses. Not your fault, it’s shoddy marketing.

If you have any additional info to help us pin down exactly which version of the Vortex he has, it’d be very helpful.

Is it housed in the case pictured below?

If so, that’s definitely the one with 8GB 2400MHz RAM.
