Fan Noisy on Startup

Just need a bit of advise

Bought a new Desktop from PCS which came on October 4th.

On Startup there is loud noise coming from the front of the PC, which I'm 100% sure is a faulty fan. There are 3 fans at the front. I can clearly see the 3 fans through the side window and the top one of the 3 looks to be rotating slower than the other 2.

The odd thing is if I perform a full shut-down and start it up again the noise will clear and the 3 fans all rotate as they should. There also doesn't appear to be any cables or wires getting caught on the fans.

Checked the warranty on parts and it says I can return the PC in the original packaging. I discarded the Packaging so not sure what to do about that.

Any advise on what I could do to fix it ?

If you open up the front of the case so that you can see the fans you should be able to confirm that it's a front fan causing the noise. Try stopping the fan (gently and carefully) to confirm it's the source of the noise.

If it is a front fan then call PCS (phone, don't email) and see what they suggest. They may just send you a replacement fan to fit if you're comfortable doing that.

I did what you suggested and removed the front panel.

I literally only touched the fan gently and the noise stopped (No shutdown required) There was like a mesh cover over the 3 fans which had already collected quite a bit of particles. I cleaned that off and put it back.

Might be a good idea to clean it off maybe once a week?

The PC hasn't made a noise on the next 2 startups so a bit of fluff or dust may of caused it. Will see how it goes over the next few days and if the noise returns will call PCS.

Fluff (and dust sometimes) can unbalance a fan and make it quite noisy. If removing the fluff has stopped the noise then job done.

It's wise to clean the whole PC periodiaclly, how often depends on how dusty the environment in which it runs. I clean mine every couple of months - but that's because they're remodelling the hotel opposite and that generates a LOT of dust! Every six months is probably a good yardstick.
