File transfers

Ok having taken delivery of my shiny new PC, I need to transfer photos, music and so on from my old XP machine. What is the easiest and safest way to do this? I was going to use an external HD what do people think??

External HD transfer is probably the easiest and quickest, unless you can have both old and new on at the same time and have them networked.

External HD is simplest and easiest really, its what I did when transfering to my current rig and also what I'm doing when my new one arrives Just takes a little bit of time is all.

Yeah, External HDD imo. You can when transferring the files across you can also make an external back up to store away from the PC.
