Finally, final upgrade of my Vortex 3

After 2 months of being stuck in a back-order queue for a pair of Plextor SSD's, I changed my order yesterday and grabbed instead a pair of OCZ Vertex 4 256GB drives and a single 750GB Seagate Momentus XT hybrid.

I've just finished installing the new drives, so now I'm a very happy bunny!

It's the first time I've used a PC equipped with an SSD and I have to say I'm truly impressed. I'm not RAIDing them or anything. I don't think I need to go to that extreme, as I'm not looking to break any speed records and I don't need to shave any time off what it takes to load Minecraft or Black Mesa!

Final config then:

2.7GHz i7
8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 9-9-9-24 RAM
Nvidia 680m
2 x OCZ Vertex 4 256GB
Seagate Momentus XT 750GB
AUO matte screen
A Logitech trackball (the nice one that can be used left or right-handed)
FiiO E10 USB external DAC / headphone amp

I'm testing Windows 8 Pro on this. I'm using it for Traktor (live DJ'ing) with a Pioneer DDJ-T1, some Minecraft, various Bethesda games as well as the rest of a large Steam library of mainly indie stuff, but a few 'big' titles as well.

It's an absolute pleasure to use. It's quiet, quick and (so far) absolutely rock-solid stable.

The whole experience from PCS has been great.
