First time ordering a new custom built Desktop PC

Hi Guys,

I grew up as a PC gamer in the 90's/early 00's as my dad was well into his PCs (loved Doom/Quake/UT etc), but it's always seemed so expensive and daunting looking for the right machine, with all of the options available for each component! Having been a console gamer for the best part of 15 years I'm totally out of the loop on this.

Anyway, after some research over the last 2 weeks I've used PC Specialist to make up the following Spec desktop for just under 2 grand:

CASE: Corsair Obsidian Series 500D SE
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12 Core
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS ROG STRIX X570-F Gaming
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3600MHz (2 x 8GB)
GRAPHICS CARD: 8GB AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT - HDMI, DP - DX 12
STORAGE: 1TB Samsung 860 QVO 2.5" SSD, SATA 6Gb/s
POWER SUPPLY: Corsair 750W RMx Series Modular 80 Plus Gold Ultra Quiet
COOLING: Corsair H115i Pro Cooler w/ PCS Ultra Quiet Fans
WN: Wireless Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200
USB: 2x USB 3.1 PCI-E Card + Standard USB Ports

No Monitor yet but i have 2 weeks to look at them. I have an old monitor i can use in the meantime if i can't find a decent offer for one. Open to recommendations!

Let me know what you think, I approached this as a novice so happy to hear thoughts.

Many thanks

What sort of budget are you looking to spend on the monitor? You don't want to overspend on the PC and match it with a low spec monitor, it would be a huge waste of money. Similarly, you don't want to get an incredibly high end monitor when the PC isn't powerful enough to handle it.

Are you only looking to use it for gaming? For £2k you can get the highest end gaming system but there are definitely different choices to be made IMO.

Something like this would be excellent for your uses. Second M2 drive is for a cache drive if video editing is high on the list, also 32GB of RAM as that will make a difference with larger projects.
