This is a PC for work but FM 2020 on the side cough*

I have all the software required so just needed a fairly powerful but cheap enough machine to get through FM 2020 a bit faster. Comes to about £1,000 ex VAT sniff*

Anyone have thoughts on the build?

It's a little bit over the shop tbh. You can likely do better for the money.

Around the same sort of money (£45 over 1k), well balanced and will do quite well with FM2020. I would probably look to overclock to 5Ghz, but I would do this manually once you have the system. FM loves frequency..... even without the OC you're going to be hitting 4.9 anyway so should be pretty good...

Interesting, Scott. Because I changed the order yesterday.

Changed out the MB and went for other little changes. See changes below. cost of changes - 212€ ex VAT

More RAM - 32 GB @ 3200MHz (Possibly not needed until Skynet takes control), added in a WiFi Z390 Aorus Master MB and upped the 970 EVO to 500 GB.

I need to go back to work. I'm spending all my effing money on stuff I'm not going to need :poop:

Item 1Amendments Charge: €0.00
Item 2Change to 10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT (Wi-Fi NOT INCLUDED) from WIRELESS 802.11N 300Mbps/2.4GHz PCI-E CARD
Item 3Change to 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3200MHz (4 x 8GB) from 16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 2666MHz (2 x 8GB)
Item 4Change to Gigabyte Z390 AORUS Master: ATX, LG1151, USB 3.1, SATA 6GBs Wi-Fi AC - RGB Ready from ASUS® TUF Z390-PLUS GAMING: ATX, LGA1151, USB 3.1, SATA 6GBs - RGB Ready
Item 5Change to 500GB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3500MB/R, 3200MB/W) from 250GB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3500MB/R, 2300MB/W)

Ahh I didn't realise you had purchased already.

The 32GB is a waste of money, I wouldn't do that at all. Pocket the money for T-Shirts & Pints of bitter once the lockdown is over.
The Aorus master is also a waste of money. It's a great motherboard but for your uses the Aorus Pro is overkill (I have it) never mind the Master. I would change this to the Pro and pocket the money.
The EVO is a great drive (Again I have one) but they aren't worth the money IMO. The SX6000 is fantastic value for money.
The 650W PSU is still massive overkill. You could power a 2080Ti with that which is a £1000+ GPU. The 550W TXm would be belt and braces and cover any future upgrades. There is no real point to middling between the 550w TXm and the 750 RMx.... I generally recommend either one or the other, going between is a bit pointless and wastes money.
With the WIFI, you will want the AX200 card as the basic one is pretty useless.

Yeah, you're right on all counts but with the PSU I'd disagree - I feel it's better to have the little extra juice incase I need it further down the line.

But eff it. It's in production now and i am needing this thing ASAP. Ive a 4770K and HD 7950 at the moment and it is just not cutting it. Got a cheap motherboard I couldn't even bother to find out what it is. Cost 89€ in a sale.

The WiFI on the motherboard isnt up to task is it? I'm not looking for a gigabyte connection bear in mind.

Motherboard WIFI is absolutely fine, it's just the motherboard that's OTT.

The PSU requirements will be around 350W (maybe less) so 550W is massive headroom, never mind 650W. I always air on the side of caution but 650W is OTT.

If you're happy spending the extra cash though it's a great system :)

Sorry but I could not resist this. During the current lockdown and with the much lesser amount of football being played in 2020 could you not get away with a less powerful CPU.

Well...... they gave me this figure for Wattage so I think I might just keep the 650. Who knows what card I might get in the future or what have you
Maximum Required Power529W
I know it is the maximum Power and will run at much less Power when using. But in these crazy times, who knows what will happen. We have have to be vigilant. Especially with our power supplies 🧐😉

It won't do any harm... that's for sure. Not sure where the 500+ wattage comes from though. Back of the hand calculation has me around 350w.

Well.... as good as your advice and thoughts were on this machine.... I have decided to cancel the order.

It's taking too long and I cannot get a solid answer - because of the influx of COVID customers and whatnot. I've ordered the parts from Amazon and they'll be here when they say claim to be here (I need the closure). I can put the jigsaw together myself. Wouldn't be the first time. Won't be the last either, I am sure.

Hope everyone gets what they want and are happy but I am just too impatient. I want this for work too so there is a double impatience there when one combines it with FM20. I will be back to use this fantastic service again regardless (y)(y)(y)
