Games to play?

Hello everyone,

I've ordered a PC from PCSpecialist and I can't wait to get it next week.
I wanted to ask what games are fun and also look amazing that I could play with
GPU: GTX 1060 3gb
CPU: AMD FX-6300
Ram: 8GB

I have the common games (Overwatch and CS:GO etc...)
Please leave any entertaining games that will be on sale in the Steam summer sale and that you've enjoyed.

Thank you,
Joshua :)

As above, that CPU is weak and long obsolete. You will find yourself having to replace large parts of your computer much sooner if you stick with it. I'd strongly recommend cancelling the order.

What was your full spec that you ordered, and what price did it come in at?

I can't post it all because a moderator has to accept it, what's wrong with the CPU? I did a lot of research apparently they go well together...

It's a very old cpu, they're underpowered and run extremely hot, they're awful cpu's by today's standards, not suited for gaming compared to modern equivalents. That goes for all the fx range, they're outdated and should be avoided.

The ryzen cpu's are amd's current technology, but an intel would offer better performance for gaming.

But then it will add at least another £100+ and I haven't got that amount.

I would strongly suggest cancelling and get some advice on a build, that one wouldn't perform well, and cooling would be an issue also.

I built the system with everything the same except the CPU and I used a AMD Ryzen 5 1400 Quad Core and it totalled up to £756 which is way out of my £600 budget.

I wouldn't suggest a Ryzen build either, given your budget and uses, but an Intel Pentium build.

Recreating your spec above as one of these would look like:

It outperforms the 6300 across the board.

Moreover, you have options to upgrade the Pentium G4560. You could swap it for an i5 7600 or an i7 7700 in the future, both of which are a lot more powerful still, while keeping the same motherboard and RAM. The CPU upgrades available for the FX series aren't very much more powerful so if you ever want a decent CPU upgrade there you will have to replace the motherboard and the RAM as well.

You'd be wasting literally hundreds of £ by going for the FX 6300.

Just to comment on the spec more generally, if you can stretch the budget a little further I'd suggest a better case (e.g. Corsair Spec 03) which has more cooling options and support for more future GPUs.

And the VS 450W PSU, as in addition to a higher wattage it also has an additional power connector that can be used for GPUs, which means you will be much less limited in what you can upgrade to in the future.

I've heard dual-cores are terrible for many games and will sometimes refuse to start. Am I mistaken?
