Hi. If you could give us an idea of the budget and the use case for the new PC it would be helpful. Clearly it's for gaming at 1440p but it can be useful to understand what type of games and also if the machine will be used for other purposes. The choice of CPU could be impacted by that.

Also is the monitor a 1440p 16:9 or 1440p 21:9 ultrawide? What is the refresh rate?

Thanks

The Maximum Budget for this PC is about £2000 and I'm looking to play warzone and other games like the new dying light when it releases. Monitor is 1440p at 144hz and 16:9 aspect ratio

The natural high-end 1440p GPU is the 3070 and it's out of stock. The 3070 Ti only gives a modest performance bump, yet costs a large chunk more. The 3060 Ti is perfectly respectable at 1440p, especially if it's not an ultrawide 21:9 screen.

In CPU terms, there is also not a massive performance gap between something like the 12400F and 12600K. The E cores in the 12600K don't seem to improve gaming performance at all at this time. So really the main difference between the 12400F, 12600 and 12600F is the clock speed. Moreover, at 1440p most games will be GPU limited anyway.

I'm going to give you a "low build" and a "high build". The difference is over £500 which is mostly caused by the GPU choice and impact of CPU choice on motherboard and cooling solutions. I'm not really convinced you need to spend £2,000 here.

High build

Thanks for the help I'm gonna go with your lower end option as for that price difference it should do what I need it to and save a little penny or 2

Perhaps bump the PSU up. While 750W is fine for a 12400F and 3060 Ti, it might be worth spending the extra now for that inevitable GPU upgrade in 2-3 years time.

Overall though I think the price difference is substantial. If GPU prices drop back to a more normal level then that £400-500 or so is a new GPU. In the meantime, you've got some extra pennies for more storage, more RAM if you need it etc.
